It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Doherty ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They skirted past the Vista Ridge Wolves 3-2. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since May 12, 2022, but that streak is no more.

Derek Graham spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits and racked up eight Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Doherty's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 3-1 (and 6-8 when he doesn't).

The victory got Doherty back to even at 9-9. As for Vista Ridge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Doherty will have a chance to go back-to-back against Vista Ridge: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
