Baseball Game Preview: Hamburg Hawks vs. Lebanon Cedars

The Hamburg Hawks will take on the Lebanon Cedars at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Hamburg made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Oley Valley, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Hamburg was the clear victor by a 10-2 margin over Oley Valley on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Hawks have posted against the Lynx since April 19, 2022.

Tyler Shuey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks.

Meanwhile, Lebanon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 17-10 to Annville-Cleona. Even though they lost, the Cedars' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.5 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

David Furjanic led a balanced group of hitters, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ben DiScuillo, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

The win made it two in a row for Hamburg and bumps their season record up to 4-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Lebanon, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.
