Baseball Recap: West Ranch Continues Home Dominance on Tuesday

With a playoff win on the line, West Ranch rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They never let the Crean Lutheran Saints get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Wildcats, who have now won six games in a row.

Matthew Castrellon looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, West Ranch got a massive performance out of Connor Clayton, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most hits Clayton has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Landon Hu, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.

West Ranch pushed their record up to 22-9 with the win, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Crean Lutheran, their defeat dropped their record down to 20-11.

As of now, neither West Ranch nor the Saints have any future games scheduled.
