Last Wednesday, Branham was able to grind out a solid win over Pioneer, taking the game 3-1.
Branham had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-21.
Meanwhile, Leland came up short against Christopher on Wednesday and fell 3-1.
Leland actually scored more points across those four sets (92-86), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-23, 11-25, 25-21.
Branham's victory bumped their record up to 12-1. As for Leland, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-3.
Branham beat Leland 3-1 when the teams last played back in October of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Branham since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
