Softball Recap: Penfield Extends Winning Streak to Six

Penfield waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Everything went their way against the Fairport Red Raiders as they made off with an 11-3 win. That's two games straight that the Patriots have won by exactly eight runs.

Clare Magee tossed a big game, tossing 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Penfield got a massive performance out of Megan Clark, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Clark is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Alexi Cimino, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Penfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive matches.

Penfield pushed their record up to 12-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Fairport, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Penfield will challenge Rush-Henrietta at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Fairport, they will take on Webster Schroeder at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
