Baseball Game Preview: Lakes Eagles vs. Antioch Sequoits

For the second straight game, Lakes will face off against Antioch. The Eagles will welcome the Sequoits at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Lakes 3.2, Antioch 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Lakes' offense. They came up short against Antioch on Tuesday, falling 6-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Eagles have suffered since May 15, 2024.

For Antioch's part, Ben Clausen tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over 5.2 innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave Clausen a new career-high.

At the plate, Jackson Mozina was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Zach Rubin, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Antioch pushed their record up to 15-8-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Lakes, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-6.
