Softball Recap: Peebles Comes Up Short

Peebles had lost four straight at home, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 5-14 to make it five. They came up short against the Manchester Greyhounds, falling 11-1. The Indians were not able to make up for their defeat to the Greyhounds from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.

As for Manchester, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 17-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by ten runs or more this season.

For Manchester's part, they got a big performance out of Bristynn McClanahan, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most hits McClanahan has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Elliana Applegate, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Peebles and Manchester are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Indians will head out to challenge Lynchburg-Clay at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The last three games the Mustangs have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Manchester, they will welcome Eastern at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Greyhounds' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 12.7 runs per game this season.
