After a string of five wins, LeFlore's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 73-65 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dr. Phillips Panthers. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Rattlers came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 49th in Alabama, while the Panthers are ranked 207th in Florida).

LeFlore's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Dr. Phillips, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. LeFlore and Hillcrest will round out the year against one another at at 7:45 p.m. on Monday. LeFlore knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five games -- so hopefully Hillcrest likes a good challenge. As for Dr. Phillips, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Freedom at 7:30 p.m. on January 13, 2025. Dr. Phillips will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
