Basketball Recap: Jefferson Independent Day Comes Up Short

Jefferson Independent Day was the 58-48 winner over New Heights Christian Academy when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Jefferson Independent Day Cavaliers were dealt a 48-19 defeat at the hands of the New Heights Christian Academy Cougars on Friday.

Despite the loss, Jefferson Independent Day saw an underclassman step up: freshman Anna Hiebert dropped a double-double with 14 points and 15 boards. The dominant performance gave Hiebert a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Presley Long, who posted four points and three steals.

Jefferson Independent Day has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which is still a better percentage than their 5-19 record this season. As for New Heights Christian Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Jefferson Independent Day does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for New Heights Christian Academy, they will head out to face off against Greenwood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
