Softball Recap: Canyon Crest Academy Sets Scoring Season-High Against Classical Academy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Canyon Crest Academy). They were the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over the Classical Academy Caimans on Wednesday. With that victory, the Ravens brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Grace Yao made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Yao was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Canyon Crest Academy let Addison Okerberg and Melony Garcia run wild. Okerberg scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Garcia scored three runs while going 2-for-3. Those three runs gave Garcia a new career-high. Kate Newlander also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Canyon Crest Academy's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Classical Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Canyon Crest Academy will welcome Liberty Charter at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Classical Academy, they will be playing at home against Madison at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
