Soccer Game Preview: Schuyler vs. Hastings

The Schuyler Warriors will face off against the Hastings Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Schuyler will be looking to extend their current 14-game winning streak.

Schuyler is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They blew past Crete 8-2. Considering Schuyler have won 13 matches by more than two goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Their offense was hitting Crete from everywhere, as five different players booted in a goal. Obed Benazo led that balanced group of strikers and accounted for two goals all by himself.

Meanwhile, Hastings faced Elkhorn North in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Tigers came out on top in a nail-biter against Wolves, sneaking past 4-3. Winning may never get old, but Hastings sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.

Schuyler's win bumped their record up to 17-2. As for Hastings, their victory bumped their record up to 18-1.

Schuyler took their win against Hastings in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 6-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Warriors since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
