Softball Recap: Orange Grove Gets the Win

Orange Grove came out on top against Mathis on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run fifth inning. The Bulldogs walked away with a 13-8 victory over the Pirates. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 12-9 victory on Friday.

The team relied heavily on Raelyn Perez, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Ella Srubar, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Orange Grove was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in three consecutive matchups.

Orange Grove's win bumped their record up to 11-15-1. As for Mathis, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-8-1.

Orange Grove will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Pirates: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled on Saturday.
