Baseball Recap: Decatur Central Triumphs

Decatur Central hadn't done well against Franklin Community recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Hawks came out on top against the Grizzly Cubs by a score of 7-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hawks.

Zach Losito made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Decatur Central is undefeated when Losito posts two or more runs, but 5-9 otherwise.

In other pitching news, Brayden Smith tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits.

Back at the plate, Logan Markus was excellent, going 1-for-2 with three RBI.

Decatur Central's record now sits at 15-9. As for Franklin Community, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-8.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Decatur Central beat the Grizzly Cubs by a score of 7-4 on Friday.
