Softball Recap: Whitesboro Beats Paradise for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Whitesboro had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Paradise Panthers by a score of 5-1. That's more bragging rights for the Bearcats, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Avery Howerton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Tylar Olsen was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Cameron Ortiz, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Whitesboro's win bumped their record up to 12-6-1. As for Paradise, their loss dropped their record down to 12-5-2.

Whitesboro and Paradise should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings. Whitesboro (ranked 317th) will meet Callisburg (ranked 909th) at 6:00 p.m. on April 1st. Whitesboro is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season. Similarly, Paradise will face off against Pilot Point at 5:00 p.m. on Friday up 551 places (247 vs. 798).
