Soccer Game Preview: Livermore vs. Dougherty Valley

The Livermore Cowboys will face off against the Dougherty Valley Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Saturday just wasn't the day for Livermore's offense. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Richmond on Saturday. While losing is never fun, the Cowboys can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 429th, while the Oilers are ranked 205th).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Dougherty Valley). Their defense stepped up to hand Marin Academy a 5-0 shutout on Saturday. With that win, Dougherty Valley brought their scoring average up to 2.6 goals per game.

They hit Marin Academy with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Jameson Raby (2), Eric Reis, Brian Ayabe, and Nawaaz Jalal.

The victory was the third in a row for Dougherty Valley, bringing their record for this year to 8-2-2. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 12 goals over those three matchups. As for Livermore, they now have a losing record at 5-6-2.

Livermore beat Dougherty Valley by a goal when the teams last played back in January of 2024, winning 3-2. Does Livermore have another victory up their sleeve, or will Dougherty Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
