Basketball Recap: Sam Powell Key Part of a Team Effort in Titans Win

After losing to Immokalee the last time they met, Golden Gate decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Golden Gate Titans walked away with a 58-51 victory over the Immokalee Indians on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Titans.

Golden Gate got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Sam Powell out in front who went 8 of 20 on his way to 19 points and three steals. Powell's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kamal Hyppolite, who went 7 for 8 en route to 15 points.

Golden Gate was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Immokalee only racked up eight assists.

Immokalee's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Timarian Howard, who went 6 of 14 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Rayan Numa, who went 7 for 12 en route to 16 points.

Golden Gate has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-12 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.5 points per game. As for Immokalee, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.

Golden Gate wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 68-47 defeat against Barron Collier on the 17th. Immokalee has also already played their next contest, a 62-53 victory against Gulf Coast on the 17th.
