Basketball Game Preview: Southington Blue Knights vs. Northwest Catholic Lions

The Southington Blue Knights will square off against the Northwest Catholic Lions at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Southington will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Weaver, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. Southington strolled past Weaver with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 64-45.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Northwest Catholic, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They wrapped up 2024 with a 69-51 win over St. Bernard.

Northwest Catholic's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.8 points per game. As for Southington, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Southington ended up a good deal behind Northwest Catholic in their previous meeting back in February, losing 62-48. Can Southington avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
