Baseball Recap: North Schuylkill Finds Home Field Redemption Against Panther Valley

There's no place like home for North Schuylkill, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Panther Valley Panthers on Thursday as they made off with a 9-1 victory. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Chase Slotcavage spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Landen Smith was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Hunter Rogers was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.

North Schuylkill was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Panther Valley only posted a batting average of .160.

North Schuylkill's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Panther Valley, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Coming up, North Schuylkill will face off against Whitehall at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Panther Valley, they will challenge Jim Thorpe at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers are facing the Olympians at the right time seeing as the Olympians are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
