Basketball Recap: Westview Warriors vs. West Noble Chargers

If Westview was riding high fresh off their 58-30 takedown of Mishawaka last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Westview Warriors were just a bucket shy of victory on Thursday and fell 35-34 to the West Noble Chargers. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 44-31 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in November of 2023.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Karis Weinberg, who scored 11 points in addition to five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Janissa Lehman, who earned seven points plus 15 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Westview smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January.

West Noble was led to victory by Allison Recendiz and Elyse Mead. Recendiz went 8 for 10 en route to 19 points plus two steals, while Mead scored six points along with five rebounds and five steals. Mead is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last five games she's played.

Westview dropped their record down to 4-5 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for West Noble, their win ended a 13-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westview will welcome Churubusco at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for West Noble, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Goshen at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
