Newberry is a perfect 4-0 against Fairfield Central since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. Newberry is taking a road trip to challenge Fairfield Central at 5:30 p.m. Newberry has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with five straight defeats, while Fairfield Central will come in with three straight wins.

Newberry lost 16-4 to Clinton on Thursday.

Cheyanne Anderson was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those RBI marked the first that she brought in this season.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Fairfield Central and Columbia had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. Fairfield Central was the clear victor by a 20-4 margin over Columbia on Friday. Considering the Griffins have won three matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Myah McMillan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. McMillan was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing five bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Fairfield Central got a massive performance out of Layla McMillan, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Alexis Montgomery, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.

Fairfield Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Columbia only posted an OBP of .438.

Newberry's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Fairfield Central, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Newberry took their win against Fairfield Central in their previous meeting back in April of 2022 by a conclusive 22-6. Does Newberry have another victory up their sleeve, or will Fairfield Central turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
