Volleyball Recap: Make It Five in a Row for Burke County

Burke County waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came out on top against the Laney Wildcats by a score of 2-0. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bears also won the last time the pair played back in September of 2024.

The 2-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Burke County was: they took both sets by at least 22 points. The final score came out to 25-1, 25-3.

Ra'Shanna Heath had an outrageously good game as she had 21 aces. Those 21 aces gave her a new career-high. Cheyenne Queen was another key player, getting six assists and four aces.

They weren't the only good server: Burke County was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 30 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces every time they've taken the court this season.

Burke County's victory bumped their record up to 18-1. As for Laney, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Coming up, Burke County will challenge Josey at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Laney, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 2-0 loss against Richmond County Technical Career Magnet on the 18th.
