Baseball Recap: Clay-Chalkville Takes a Loss

Clay-Chalkville's last matchup with St. Clair County could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's match on Wednesday. The Clay-Chalkville Cougars came up short against the St. Clair County Fighting Saints, falling 11-1. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Cougars couldn't push the score so high this time.

Clay-Chalkville saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was TK Smith, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases. The dominant performance gave Smith a new career-high in stolen bases.

Clay-Chalkville dropped their record down to 4-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for St. Clair County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-5.

While Clay-Chalkville had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
