Basketball Recap: Kristopher Mcdonough Ii's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Warhill over Bruton

Warhill suffered their closest defeat since January 12, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of the Bruton Panthers by a score of 55-52. The Lions haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kristopher McDonough Ii, who posted 15 points and six assists. Another player making a difference was Shamar McCray, who put up eight points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Even though they lost, Warhill smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Bruton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Brandon Freeman out in front who went 6 of 12 on his way to 15 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Freeman is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jalen Griffin, who went 5 for 10 en route to 12 points and six boards.

Warhill's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Bruton, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-4.

Warhill will be playing in front of their home fans against York at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Warhill is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.3 points per game this season. As for Bruton, they will take on Grafton at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Grafton's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five contests.
