Softball Recap: Whitehall-Yearling Wins Going Away Against Liberty Christian Academy

The Whitehall-Yearling Rams got the win against the Liberty Christian Academy Eagles on Saturday by a conclusive 18-3. The Rams might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three games by 11 runs or more this season.

Tamia Latham made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Latham was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. She also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aubree Waites, who went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Elena Pablo was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.

Whitehall-Yearling kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Liberty Christian Academy only managed five hits.

The victory made it two in a row for Whitehall-Yearling and bumps their season record up to 3-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Liberty Christian Academy, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Whitehall-Yearling and Liberty Christian Academy will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. Whitehall-Yearling will face off against rival Franklin Heights at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Liberty Christian Academy is set to square off against their familiar foe Shekinah Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
