Volleyball Recap: Newman Smith Trojans vs. Creekview Mustangs
Newman Smith was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They fell just short of the Creekview Mustangs by a score of 3-2. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Mustangs apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played on October 4th.
Newman Smith actually scored more points across those five sets (107-91), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 29-27, 11-25, 11-25, 15-7.
Bianca Baity and Aaliyah Castro certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Baity had five digs and three aces, while Castro had 17 digs, five kills, and a block. The dominant performance gave Baity a new career-high in aces.
Creekview's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kennedy Allen led the charge by getting four digs and 29 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Priyanka Thomas, who had six digs and 18 assists.
Newman Smith's loss dropped their record down to 11-21. As for Creekview, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-22 record this season.
