League recap: Hardee tops North Port to extend winning streak

Hardee extended the longest winning streak in 5A District 13 this week by beating North Port, 28-6. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.

Southeast scaled the state rankings by moving to 254 from 304 this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Seminoles were able to move up by topping Palmetto 34-26.

Courtney Allen was a passing and rushing force as Southeast beat the Tigers. Allen's favorite target this week was Larry Woodard, who caught 2 passes for 44 yards.

Nelson Bethea was the best wideout in the league this week as Hardee bested the Bobcats. Bethea racked up 2 receptions for 65 yards. Jordan Jones helped Hardee's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 42 yards.

Buddy Martin's team's Kris Johnson and Tristen Lanier have formed a dream team this season, leading 5A District 13 in both passing and receiving yards. Johnson has thrown for 1,012 yards this season, while Lanier has 17 catches for 365 yards. Allen from Paul Maechtle's team leads the league in rushing with 1,293 yards.

Bayshore lost to Venice 41-8 last week, the largest margin of any game.
