Basketball Recap: Halifax County Triumphs

Halifax County's game last Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 54-53 victory over the Mecklenburg County Phoenix. This was a revenge game for the Comets: when they faced off against the Phoenix back in December of 2024, they had to take a 54-47 defeat.

Halifax County pushed their record up to 7-10 with the win, which was their third straight at home. As for Mecklenburg County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Halifax County will take on George Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mecklenburg County, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Bassett at 7:00 p.m. on February 11th.
