Baseball Recap: Oak Hills Comes Up Short

Oak Hills had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped their record down to 13-9 to make it four. They fell 5-1 to the Don Lugo Conquistadores. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Bulldogs couldn't push the score so high this time.

Oak Hills got a good showing from Nick Ford, who didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Ford also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Bulldogs are 8-3 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 5-6 otherwise.

At the plate, Oak Hills saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Eric Sotelo, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

As for Don Lugo, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games.

On Don Lugo's side, Jasim Malik spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up seven Ks. Malik has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

Oak Hills does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Don Lugo, they will host Diamond Ranch at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.29 runs per game on average), something the Conquistadores will no doubt try to take advantage of.
