Baseball Recap: Steinbrenner Comes Up Short

Steinbrenner has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 3.83 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Friday. They came up short against the Jefferson Dragons, falling 11-4. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Nick Osborne was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one double. Gavin Mix was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Steinbrenner dropped their record down to 10-8 with the defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Jefferson, their win bumped their record up to 11-6.

Steinbrenner and Jefferson should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Steinbrenner will square off against Hillsborough at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday up 316 places (188 vs. 504). Meanwhile, Jefferson (ranked 186th) will meet Armwood (ranked 423rd) at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
