Volleyball Recap: Desert Mountain's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

Desert Mountain and Ironwood squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Desert Mountain had to settle for second. They lost 3-0 to the Eagles. The Wolves' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

While Desert Mountain was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-22, 25-19.

Ava Archibald paced Desert Mountain's offense, picking up ten kills. Archibald got some help from Ayana Conklin and her 15 assists. Conklin was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Ironwood found their leader in freshman Kalia Soza, who had 13 digs.

Desert Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 15-23. As for Ironwood, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 19-12.

Desert Mountain does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Ironwood, they will head out to take on Horizon at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
