Basketball Recap: Central Carolina Academy Takes a Loss

Central Carolina Academy played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through an 85-30 loss at the hands of the Neuse Charter Cougars. The Eagles were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 54-13.

Despite the defeat, Central Carolina Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jax Gaddy posted 16 points. That was a full 53.3% of the Eagles' points, marking the third time in a row Gaddy has earned more than a third of the team's points.

Leading Neuse Charter to victory were Jeremiah Edwards and Klayton Tew. Edwards put up 22 points and three steals, while Tew had 17 points and six rebounds. Edwards is crushing it when it comes to points: he's scored at least 22 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Headlee, who scored seven points in addition to six steals and five boards.

Central Carolina Academy's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Neuse Charter, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-1.

Central Carolina Academy will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Cornerstone Charter at 7:00 p.m. on December 2. As for Neuse Charter, they will take on Falls Lake at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
