McLaughlin had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Wakpala Sioux. The victory continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Sioux: they've now won five in a row.

McLaughlin never let Wakpala on the board, but things got pretty close in the third set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-21, 25-23.

Coming up, McLaughlin will challenge Dupree at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup will give the Mustangs their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Wakpala, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Takini at 6:30 p.m. on September 11.
