Baseball Recap: Cave City Comes Up Short

Cave City fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Flippin on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Bobcats by a score of 7-6. The Cavemen's loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Silas Maiga put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero). He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Colton Johnson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Haiden Herndon was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Cave City now has a losing record of 9-10. As for Flippin, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-5 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Cave City will face off against rival Yellville-Summit at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Flippin is set to challenge their familiar foe Valley Springs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
