Basketball Game Preview: Whitewater Wildcats vs. Upson-Lee Knights

Whitewater hasn't had much luck against Upson-Lee recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Wildcats will look to defend their home court against the Knights at 7:30 p.m. Whitewater knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four games -- so hopefully Upson-Lee likes a good challenge.

While Whitewater's victory against Trinity Christian wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Wildcats pulled ahead with a 73-72 photo finish over the Lions on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won five in a row.

Whitewater can attribute much of their success to Asher Lamz, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 12 points and eight boards. Those eight rebounds gave Lamz a new career-high. Michael Greene was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Whitewater smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, Upson-Lee escaped with a win on Saturday against Taylor County by the margin of a single free throw, 48-47.

The victory got Upson-Lee back to even at 1-1. As for Whitewater, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.
