Basketball Recap: Wheeler Comes Up Short

Fans were treated to a Battle of the Eagles on Friday. The Wheeler Eagles fell just short of the Tupelo Christian Prep Eagles by a score of 74-72. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Tuesday (57), Wheeler still had to take the loss.

Wheeler has also traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 18-14 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points over those games. As for Tupelo Christian Prep, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.

Coming up, Wheeler will face off against West Union at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Union knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 contests -- so hopefully Wheeler likes a good challenge. Tupelo Christian Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
