Soccer Game Preview: Woodside vs. Denbigh

The Woodside Wolverines will venture away from home to take on the Denbigh Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

As a matter of fact, Woodside put up the most goals they have all season on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Heritage a 7-0 shutout. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Woodside's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 74th, while Heritage are ranked 246th).

Meanwhile, Denbigh got the win against Hampton on Tuesday by a conclusive 8-2. The game marked Denbigh's most dominant win of the season so far.

Woodside's victory bumped their record up to 5-2-1. As for Denbigh, the win got them back to even at 3-3-1.

Everything went Woodside's way against Denbigh in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Woodside made off with a 4-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolverines since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
