Softball Recap: East Aurora's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Five

East Aurora waltzed into their contest on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They were the clear victors by a 23-6 margin over the Cleveland Hill Golden Eagles. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 13-1 last Wednesday.

East Aurora got a great performance from Ava ?MJ? Improta as she struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Improta has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Colletta Giallella was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, four RBI, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Tessa Fowler, who fired off three doubles, two runs, and one triple while going 4-for-5.

East Aurora kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 23 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in five consecutive matches.

East Aurora's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Cleveland Hill, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Coming up, East Aurora will be playing in front of their home fans against Eden at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cleveland Hill, they will face off against Griffith Institute at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
