While Taylorville didn't have the best season last year (they finished 14-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. Everything went their way against the Hillsboro Hiltoppers on Thursday as Taylorville made off with a 13-1 win. The matchup marked the Tornadoes' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Colton Gatton was incredible, scoring three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Clark Durbin also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Taylorville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .391. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hillsboro only posted a batting average of .062.

Taylorville pushed their record up to 4-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average this season. As for Hillsboro, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-6.

Looking ahead, Taylorville is taking a road trip to challenge Jersey at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Hillsboro, they will welcome Freeburg at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
