Basketball Recap: D'micah Lowman's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mount Dora over Tavares

Mount Dora lost against Tavares back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Mount Dora Hurricanes fell 58-46 to the Tavares Bulldogs.

Mount Dora's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was D'Micah Lowman, who posted nine points. The dominant performance also gave Lowman a new career-high in assists (four). Daqavious Taylor was another key player, putting up 12 points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Even though they lost, Mount Dora was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tavares only racked up three assists.

Tavares' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but AMARE WALKER led the charge by going 6 for 10 on his way to 13 points. WALKER has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was LANDON SAMUEL, who went 5 of 10 en route to 14 points.

Mount Dora has traveled a rocky road recently having lost nine of their last ten matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season. As for Tavares, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Mount Dora has already played their next game, a 77-58 loss against Freedom on the 21st. As for Tavares, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 72-28 win against University on the 21st.
