Basketball Game Preview: Poinciana Eagles vs. Haines City Hornets

The Poinciana Eagles just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Haines City Hornets at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.

Poinciana is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Harmony just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 44-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Longhorns. The matchup marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, Haines City was able to grind out a solid win over Kathleen on Wednesday, taking the game 70-60.

Poinciana better keep an eye on Dequarious Marks. He was instrumental in Haines City's win, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 14 boards. Those 14 rebounds gave Marks a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Eddy Hyppolite Jr., who went 7 for 10 en route to 15 points along with five assists and four steals.

Poinciana's defeat dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Haines City, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.

Poinciana came up short against Haines City when the teams last played back in January of 2022, falling 53-48. Can Poinciana avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
