Basketball Recap: Highland Comes Up Short in High-Profile Match with Strasburg

On Friday, Highland faced Strasburg in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Highland Huskies fell 70-60 to the Strasburg Indians. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Indians this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 69-53 two weeks ago.

Despite the loss, Highland still got an impressive performance from Sawyer Morgan, who posted 20 points in addition to eight boards and five assists. Morgan has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Brogan Palmer, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 15 boards.

Strasburg's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tyce Bollers, who went 6-for-12 en route to 22 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Holloway, who put up 14 points.

Highland's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 16-5. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Strasburg, Resurrection Christian, and Strasburg. As for Strasburg, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season.

Highland will take on Sterling in a tournament on Wednesday. As for Strasburg, they will head out to take on Resurrection Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Resurrection Christian sitting on 21 straight wins and Strasburg on three.
