Softball Recap: Jackson-Reed Takes a Loss

Jackson-Reed dropped their record down to 7-6-1 on Friday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 15-0 to the Potomac School Panthers. Having soared to a lofty 19 runs in the game before, the Tigers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Potomac School, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-2. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won six games by ten runs or more so far this season.

For Potomac School's part, Catherine Stallmer made a splash no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Stallmer has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs.

In other batting news, Potomac School let Alexis Vaughan and Leyton Mayrhofer run wild. Vaughan got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Mayrhofer went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. That's the most hits Mayrhofer has posted since back in April of 2024. Paige Schedler was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Jackson-Reed wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, an 18-13 loss against National Cathedral on the 28th. As for Potomac School, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 5-1 defeat against Saint James on the 28th.
