Recap: George Ranch Longhorns vs. Fort Bend Dulles Vikings
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Fort Bend Hightower, The George Ranch Longhorns were happy to have found some success on Thursday. They breezed by Fort Bend Dulles at home to the tune of 41-14. The result was nothing new for George Ranch, who have now won three contests by 24 points or more so far this season.
George Ranch had a senior duo take command as Deion Drinkard threw for 172 yards and three touchdowns while completing 90.9% of his passes and Jaden Shelton rushed for 144 yards and a touchdown. Shelton is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last nine games he's played. Hayden Drinkard was another key contributor, gaining 125 total yards.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Fort Bend Dulles to a paltry 215 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to George Ranch's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Cody Ford and his two sacks.
Fort Bend Dulles' lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Carter Truscott, who picked up 109 receiving yards and a touchdown. Truscott's longest reception was for an incredible 98 yards.
George Ranch's victory was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 7-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 33.3 points per game. As for Fort Bend Dulles, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-7.
Coincidentally, George Ranch and Fort Bend Dulles will both be playing Fort Bend Elkins the next time they take the field. Fort Bend Dulles will host Fort Bend Elkins at 7:00 p.m. on October 27th, while George Ranch will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on November 4th.
