Recap: Cross Stingrays vs. Colleton Prep Academy War Hawks

The Cross Stingrays waltzed into their match on Friday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They secured a 40-34 W over Colleton Prep Academy. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Cross also won the last time the pair played last Tuesday.

Cross found their leader in underclassman Ryan Mayers, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. Mayers has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. Lexann Maldonado was another key contributor, scoring six points along with 17 rebounds and seven blocks.

Cross is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. As for Colleton Prep Academy, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cross' road trip will continue as they head out to face Hilton Head Prep at 6:00 p.m. on February 8th. Hopefully Cross focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday. As for Colleton Prep Academy, they will head out on the road to challenge Holy Trinity Classical Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Holy Trinity Classical Christian is coming into the contest with three straight losses at home, meaning Colleton Prep Academy will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory.
