Baseball Recap: Jal Gets the Win

It was a proper cat-fight when Jal duked it out with Lovington on Monday. Jal won by a run and slipped past Lovington 10-9. This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered a 14-13 loss the last time these two teams met.

Cash Taylor was a standout: he scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Javier Santillan, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3.

Jal was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

The victory got Jal back to even at 2-2. As for Lovington, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jal will take on Santa Rosa in a tournament on Thursday. As for Lovington, they will welcome Dexter at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dexter has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.8 runs per game on average), something Lovington will no doubt try to take advantage of.
