Softball Recap: California School for the Deaf-Riverside Comes Up Short

California School for the Deaf-Riverside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 14-13 heartbreaker at the hands of the Desert Mirage RAMS. Even though they lost, the Cubs' still made a splash at the plate and bumped their average scoring up to 6.3 runs per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Jaydeen Diaz was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while going 3-for-4. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jazzel Diaz-Sandoval, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.

Even though they lost, California School for the Deaf-Riverside always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive contests.

California School for the Deaf-Riverside's defeat dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Desert Mirage, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. California School for the Deaf-Riverside will take on Public Safety Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. California School for the Deaf-Riverside has given up an average of 11.5 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. As for Desert Mirage, they will square off against Cathedral City at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
