Softball Game Preview: Omro Foxes vs. Lomira Lions

Omro hasn't had much luck against Lomira recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Foxes are taking a road trip to face off against the Lions at 5:00 p.m. Neither Omro nor Lomira posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Omro is headed into Thursday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 11th straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They lost 15-0 to Campbellsport.

Meanwhile, Lomira hadn't done well against Mayville recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Lions' pitchers stepped up to hand the Cardinals a 2-0 shutout. The win was familiar territory for the Lions, who have now won four matches in a row.

Lomira's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Omro, their loss dropped their record down to 0-10.

Omro might still be hurting after the 15-0 defeat they got from Lomira in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Foxes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
