Baseball Recap: Stoney Creek Takes a Loss

Stoney Creek was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Troy Colts. That's two games in a row now that the Cougars have lost by just one run.

Caleb Helms was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and only one walk).

Stoney Creek's loss dropped their record down to 7-17. As for Troy, they pushed their record up to 17-8 with the victory, which was their third straight at home.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stoney Creek will host Detroit Country Day at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Troy, they will be playing at home against Kettering at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
