Basketball Game Preview: South Allegheny Gladiators vs. Bishop Guilfoyle Marauders

South Allegheny is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 75-37 victory over Cranberry Area. The Gladiators have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matchups by 22 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Bishop Guilfoyle, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They strolled past Bishop Canevin with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 57-38. Given the Marauders' advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Crusaders are ranked 204th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Bishop Guilfoyle is on a roll lately: they've won 18 of their last 19 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-4 record this season. South Allegheny pushed their record up to 19-3 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.

South Allegheny beat Bishop Guilfoyle 53-41 in their previous meeting back in March of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for South Allegheny since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
