Softball Recap: National Trail Drops Season-High Score on Legacy Christian Academy

National Trail had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Legacy Christian Academy on Thursday. The Blazers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Knights a 13-0 shutout. The Blazers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Morgan House made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). House was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, National Trail got a big performance out of Taylor Reynolds, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those RBI were Reynolds' first of the season. Eva Swartsell was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

National Trail always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Legacy Christian Academy only posted an OBP of .111.

National Trail's victory bumped their record up to 2-3.

Looking ahead, National Trail will face off against Coldwater at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Legacy Christian Academy, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Washington at 5:00 p.m. on May 9.
